1-on-1 Tutoring

at The Literacy Center

Tutors are the heart and soul of The Literacy Center's mission. Each year, 50+ volunteer tutors provide one-on-one support to TLC students. This is an invaluable service that allows us to fulfill our mission and serve all those in need, regardless of schedule and circumstance.

Interested in becoming a tutor?

No background or experience is necessary, just a willingness to help and an eagerness to learn. All volunteer tutors receive comprehensive training prior to being matched with a student. Tutors often teach reading, writing, math, computers, career exploration, English pronunciation & conversation, Citizenship exam preparation and/or High School Equivalency Exam Prep. Volunteers will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to find the best match for their skills and ability.

Do you need a tutor?

The Literacy Center can pair you with a tutor if you are in need of support in subjects such as reading, writing, math, computers, career exploration, English pronunciation and conversation, Citizenship exam preparation and/or High School Equivalency Exam Prep. If you have another need, please let us know! We might have a tutor that can help you.

*Please note that there are times when we have more requests than we can fill. We will work hard to get you a tutor as soon as possible.
