Halloween

writing contest

Show off your spookiest storytelling skills by entering The Literacy Center's Halloween Writing Contest this October! All are welcome to submit. The following guidelines must be followed.
Contest Rules:
  • Story must be no more than 750 words (about a page and a half)
  • Story must be original, written by the person submitting it
  • Story must be Halloween or autumn themed
  • Only one story per person may be submitted
  • Authors must choose one age category to submit under (see below).
Writing Contest Age Groups
Category 1:  Tiny Authors   (Ages 9 and under)
Category 2: Child Authors (Ages 10 - 12)
Category 3: Young Adults  (Ages 13 - 17)
Category 4:  Adults   (Ages 18+)
Category 5: Non-native English Speakers (ESL)
Winners & Prizes
Winners will be annouced on Tuesday, Oct. 22nd.
The winner in each category will receive 4 tickets to TLC's Haunted House & Costume Party on Oct. 25th.
Winning pieces will be posted on our website until the end of November.
How to Submit Your Story
Please include the following at the top of your story:
1) Story title
2) Your first and last name
3) Phone number & email
4) Your age category 
Note: These details will not be counted toward your story's wordcount.
To submit your story, please email a Word (.doc or .docx) version of your story to Amanda Blount at ablount@theliteracycenter.com
 
All submissions must be emailed by 11:59pm on Friday, October 18th to be considered for the contest.

Entering the contest is free, but running it is not! If you want to support our contest, please consider contributing $5 or more with your entry.
